Methodology and disclosure
Assumptions, Method, and Disclosure
Comparison basis
- Single person under 65, with no spouse, dependant or pension-income claims, withholding or refundable credits.
- Net income is assumed equal to taxable income where required.
Tax and marginal-rate calculation
- Each estimate combines the final federal and provincial or territorial amounts from the released model.
- The four $100 income additions are tested independently against the same starting scenario.
- The $100 increment can cross a tax-bracket boundary or a threshold affecting a credit, surtax or health premium.
Key limitations
- Simplified educational estimate—not a tax return, tax advice or residency recommendation.
- These calculations use the 2026 tax data presented in the OpenBook Reference Centre. Check important amounts and rules against the official sources linked there.
