Assumptions and disclosure
This calculator is an educational planning tool. The OAS clawback is formally the Old Age Security recovery tax. In plain terms, once income is above the threshold, part or all of OAS may be clawed back.
For a payment year, the first half of payments may reflect income from two years earlier, while the latter half may reflect the previous year's income. This calculator simplifies the timing by asking for the income amount used for the recovery calculation.
Thresholds, OAS amounts, and recovery rules may change over time. This tool does not model all tax credits, deductions, pension splitting, GIS, survivor benefits, residency eligibility, or detailed benefit rules.
Results may differ from actual benefit administration and tax outcomes because payment periods, income-year timing, source data, rules, and individual circumstances can vary. This calculator is not financial, tax, legal, accounting, retirement, estate, investment, insurance, mortgage, lending, or other professional advice.
